Homework

Students will have homework 3-4 nights of the week.  Homework should not take more than 10-15 minutes, plus reading minutes.  If you have any concerns regarding homework, please let me know.

Planners:  Students write down any homework they have and important events upcoming on their planner.  Parents, please read and sign student's planners each night.

Reading Minutes:   read 20 minutes a night, 100 minutes a week.  Students in fourth grade need to have at least 400 minutes each month.  If reading minutes are not turned in, students may read part of their recess time to make up this time.

HOT Bucket:  Students who complete their homework on time will have their name entered into the HOT bucket to win a prize at the end of the week.  Reading minutes are included in this!

Spelling:  Students will have spelling words almost every week.  These words are consistent with our reading series.  You can find the activities to practice here:  http://treasures.macmillanmh.com/national/students/grade4/book

Math:  Students participate in a math workshop.  Students listen to the teacher model the lesson of the day, then practice with a group or partner, and have individual practice.  This practice may be homeworked if not finished during class.
